Download iCal FileBorn and raised in Mali and Senegal, Coumba Toure is a writer and storyteller. She has an extensive background in designing, implementing, and evaluating popular education programs to promote human rights, especially for women and young people. Toure has worked with organizations such as the Institute forPopular Education in Mali, the 21st Century Youth LeadershipMovement in Selma, Alabama, and the Youth for EnvironmentalSanity in Santa Cruz, California. She is a member of the AfricanFeminist Forum and the Per Ankh Collective. She is currently aboard member of TrustAfrica and an Ambassador of AfricansRising for Peace, Justice, and Dignity. She also has served on the board of Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights and is an advisor to the Global Fund for Women and the InternationalDevelopment Exchange. Coumba Toure is a mother, a sister, and a daughter to many. Her work has been published through Falia Editions Enfance and her new illustrated children’s book is forthcoming.
