Emily Ruehs is a PhD Candidate in Sociology with a concentration in Gender and Women's Studies.
Her research focuses on the intersectional experiences of unaccompanied migrant youth as they navigate the complicated systems of aid in the United States. This work both challenges one dimensional understandings of youth as humanitarian subjects and also critiques the immigration system that fails to respond to the nuances of youth and their transnational families. Emily is also a passionate instructor and works to integrate feminist pedagogy into her classrooms.
