L. Boyd Bellinger is a doctoral student studying the social foundations of education in the Policy Studies in Urban Education Department in UIC’s College of Education. Boyd’s research centers on the experiences of queer and transgender youth with bullying and harassment, school discipline, policing, surveillance, and the criminal legal system.

Iliana Figueroa is in her 2nd year of the Masters program in the Jane Addams College of Social Work. She has extensive experience in activism within queer and trans community in Chicago and currently organizes with Chicago Boricua Resistance, a group of Puerto Ricans living in the diaspora that works to strategize against and bring awareness to the humanitarian and economic issues happening on the island due to U.S. colonialism.
Sandra Galicia is in the final year of the Masters program in the Jane Addams College of Social Work. Her research interests include restorative approaches in disrupting the school to prison pipeline, and mental health access for communities impacted by systemic violence, and urban farming. She is also invested in immigration reform, and domestic violence advocacy.
