Description:

The Gender & Women’s Studies Program offers a limited number of awards (up to $250 each) for GWS graduate concentrators, GWS majors and minors, and Social Justice (SJ) minors to travel to and participate in feminist conference spaces. The award is to support students who will be presenting papers, posters, or creative work at the conference they attend. It also can be used to support student travel for research, including, but not limited to, trips to archives, transcription of data, or other research related activities.

Awards are limited to one per student in any academic year. A student can earn the Kegan Travel fund up to two times during their tenure as an undergraduate student and up to two times during their tenure as a graduate student.

Eligibility:

• Current GWS graduate concentrators who have completed at least one core course (GWS 501 or 502)
• GWS majors or minors, or SJ minors who have completed the required core courses and are presenting research at a conference.

Timeline:

Kegan Travel Awards are paid out three times a year for travel and research activities occurring during the fall semester, spring semester, and summer. Awards are limited to one per student in any academic year. The award is supported by the Esther O. Kegan Fund.

Spring 2026 Dates:

• The award supports travel or research occurring from January 1, 2026 through April 30, 2026.
• Spring applications are due by Friday, May 8, 2026 at 5 p.m. CST.
• Award notifications will be shared by Friday, May 29, 2026.
