On top of and below the images is text describing the Civic Engagement for Social Justice event (same info on this page).

GWS is proud to co-sponsor this event organized by the Women's Leadership and Resource Center (WLRC)!

What does civic engagement for social justice mean? And for Stephanie Skora, what does it mean to be a leftist Jew engaged in this work? These questions have been swirling across the progressive landscape since October 2023 as the United States descends into the turmoil of yet another contentious presidential election. From voting, to watchdog research, to protesting against a genocide, this talk examines civic engagement from a progressive lens, and paints a portrait of what change-making looks like on a local level.

Estimated schedule:

  • 2-3:15pm: Talk and Q&A
  • 3:15-4pm: Reception

WLRC thanks the event co-sponsors: UIC Criminology, Law and Justice; Gender and Sexuality Center; Gender and Women's Studies; Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy; Jewish Student Collective; Social Justice Initiative; Student Leadership and Civic Engagement; and Students for a Democratic Society.
