Join UIC's Gender & Women's Studies (GWS) Program as we celebrate our graduating students and alumni!

We'll honor undergraduate students who graduated in academic year 2023-2024 with a GWS major or minor or a Social Justice minor, as well as graduate students who completed the GWS concentration in academic year 2023-2024. We'll also present the GWS Graduate Prize, Undergraduate Prize, Graduate Completion Award, and Mary B. Bialas Award to this year's winners.

This year marks the return of GWS' Civic Engagement, Community Service, and Community Organizing (CECSCO) award. We are thrilled to honor UIC alumnae Mary Scott-Boria, Diana Solís, and Ren Encinas as this year's CECSCO awardees. The CECSCO Award was created in 2009 to recognize UIC alumnae who have made a difference in the lives of women, advanced racial, gender or social justice causes, or advocated for rights and respect for LGBTQIA people. You can learn more about the award and past recipient here.

We also will honor and thank outgoing GWS Director Jennie Brier for her 11 years of feminist leadership!

A reception will follow the program.
