Drawing from their works in progress on black queer visual cultures in the U.S. Midwest and the African Diaspora, Fair and Bost will discuss the intersections of race, gender, embodiment, visual culture, and space/place. A key concern of this conversation will be the politics of visually representing black bodies and how each author navigates these politics through queer and feminist methods.

Featuring
Dr. Darius Bost, Associate Professor of Gender & Women’s Studies and Black Studies
and Co-principal Investigator of the Provost’s Initiative on the Racialized Body

Dr. Freda Fair, Assistant Professor of Gender & Women’s Studies and Black Studies
