UIC Historian Barbara Ransby Named Inaugural Freedom Scholar

Acclaimed University of Illinois at Chicago historian and GWS professor Barbara Ransby has been named a Freedom Scholar, a select group of progressive academics who are at the “forefront of movements for economic and social justice.” The Freedom Scholars awards were established to enhance the financial resources available to scholars leading abolitionist, Black, feminist, queer, radical and anti-colonialist studies.
