About
Shilpa Parthan (she/her) is a PhD Candidate in Anthropology and a GWS concentrator. Her research interests include political economy approaches in queer and trans studies, queer/trans/feminist methodologies, caste and intersectionality, dissident social movements in India, and the anthropology of development. Her dissertation examines the state's recognition of transgender people in south India, and develops an intersectional perspective of queer politics in India based on a critical engagement with subnational regional milieus. She is part of the editorial team at Ala - A Kerala Studies Blog.
