About
Jayre Vazquez is a first generation graduate student in the Master of Social Work (MSW) program at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and plans on specializing in Organizations and Community Practice. She is a UIC alum with a B.A. in Gender and Women’s Studies (GWS) and a minor in Sociology. Currently, Jayre is a teaching assistant for the GWS department, specifically for GWS 102: Global Perspectives on Women and Gender. Her education and work experiences have helped shape the framework she embraces in her personal life and career – an intersectional feminist framework. Jayre is currently working on an independent study project focused on the gendering and racialization of public welfare – bringing together her passions for social work, gender and women’s studies, and sociology.
Outside of school and work, you can find Jayre cuddling with her dog (Fry Kevin Vazquez), drawing, making stickers, and returning her overdue books to the library.
